Martin Buttrich
Petre Inspirescu
Losoul
After the screaming success of Louche and System’s last party at Nation Of Shopkeepers, wild horses couldn’t have stopped us returning to the venue for our next summer time terrace soiree. Armed with a white-hot lineup and an exclusive carry-on at The Mint Club all in one joint ticket, this one is quite simply unmissable.
Our first guest is the Grammy nominated Martin Buttrich. The German, is a true electronic superstar of our time and has put his sonic thumbprint on varying artists and genres, from Bootsy Collins to Tom Jones, from The Sugababes to Roger Sanchez. His collaborations with Timo Maas in the mid ’90s are legendary; with notable remixes for Madonna, Muse and Depeche Mode in their portfolio. His more recent project with Loco Dice in 2002, written together in Brooklyn, explored after-dark melodies, and turned Martin towards the deeper end of the spectrum. He is of course, no slouch on his own either; solo work having been released on Planet E, Pokerflat and Cocoon. His latest Album, ‘Crash Test’, released on Desolat this year has been received with worldwide acclaim. We can’t wait to see him perform his formidable live set in Leeds.
Also on the lineup is Romania’s Pedro. From the very beginning Pedro has been strongly affected by house music and its various sub genres, and this shows in his sets, his DJ performances are as sonically baffling as they are irresistibly groovy; as anyone who has ever been to DC:10 will tell you- he was a Circoloco resident for many years. Together with his mates Raresh and Rhadoo they founded their own label, a:rpia:r, which has become a playground not only for the creative trio, but also for equally talented young artists from Romania.
Last but by no means least is Peter Kremeier AKA Losoul. A member of the massive Frankfurt label Playhouse from 1996, Losoul’s abstract, groovy take on house and techno has been at the forefront of electronic music ever since. Making such cutting edge music at the top of the pile for so long is no mean feat, and it is perhaps his respect for jazz, funk and soul that keeps his music fresh and ever evolving. It comes as little surprise that the mighty Michael Mayer describes him as “The coolest mother-fucker in minimal house”, and over the years his emotive tracks and remixes have featured on labels such Freak n Chic, Cirus Company and Moon Harbour. Coming to us fresh off the back of standout gigs in Ibiza, at Luciano’s Cadenza party at Pacha and at Ushusia, the man is on top form, ready to make his musical mark on Leeds in true Losoul style.
The 3 guests are sure to rock Nation of Shopkeepers’ beautiful walled terrace like no-one else, and will push the custom built Funktion One system to its limits. With support in Room 2 from party starters Cognosco and Teknicolor, and with the party continuing on at Mint Club until the very small hours, this promises to be the best Bank Holiday Sunday party Leeds has seen for quite some time.

Lee Foss
Subb-an
A special mid-summers treat for you this July as we lay on a special double party. Kicking off in the daytime at Distrikt, for an outdoor courtyard party, then we carry on at Mint Club for the discount price of £5 in the evening as we welcome back good friend Lee Foss, aswell as Crosstown Rebels new recruit Subb-an.
Foss’s stock has risen at an alarming rate over the last year, and it seems like we caught him just at the right time. Since his first gig and podcast for us in December last year, Lee’s music on Wolf and Lamb and Culprit has been received to world wide acclaim, and it is little surprise that he is now gigging all over the globe. Indeed Lee’s sound, on his own or collaborating with Jamie Jones as Hot Natured, has revitalized house music, bringing that characteristic dark, funk tinged style right to the forefront of electronic music. Hot Natured edits are in all the biggest DJ’s record boxes, and their label Hot Creations is going from strength to strength.
Hot Natured parties are popping up everywhere: from LA to Glastonbury, it seems everyone wants to dance to their deep disco sound. Their party in Barcelona this year was the pick of the Sonar fringe parties, where they hosted a packed out terrace party at the luxurious five star W Hotel. Along side Foss, Subb-an was also performing his ever popular live set which was one of the highlights of the day.
It’s always good to see young musicians from the UK make a name for themselves globally, and Below resident Subb-an is doing just that. At the age of just 23 he already has releases on BPitch Control, Immigrant and Hypercolour under his belt, and more coming this year on 20/20 and Hot Natured. He set up ONE Records with Adam Shelton in November last year, and the imprint has been received extremely well, both in the UK and worldwide. His live sets are second to none; effortlessly combing his ever evolving discography with his in demand edits. This year he’s already toured Australia, played Ibiza and Berlin and shows no signs of stopping with an ever growing gig diary that is stacking up fast.
And as if this all wasn’t enough, Louche will be hosting a free courtyard party at our favorite watering hole Distrikt before we go down to Mint. Ditrikt’s newly developed terrace is a perfect spot for a cheeky outdoor rave up; a rare thing these days in Leeds’ city centre. Come and join us from 2pm on Saturday until 11pm, where DJ’s from Louche, Twaddle, Cognosco, Luna and VERY SPECIAL guests will be laying down some sunshine music, BBQ action and good old summer fun times.

Dinky
Karotte
Nation of Shopkeepers is the scene for Louche and System’s second bank holiday get together. The walled enclosure is sure to provide the perfect setting for an outdoor knees up, and with beats provided by Karotte and Dinky; this surely will be one of the parties of the summer. Welcome, to ‘Summer Bank Holiday Sessions’
Born and raised in Santiago, Dinky is a leading member of Chile’s second generation of electronic music greats. It was in New York though, where she moved in the mid nineties where Dinky’s career began to take off; the vibrant club scene inspiring her to start djing and producing full time. Her time in the states was cut short by U.S. immigration however so moved on again to Berlin, where her career flourished. By 2005 she would release the massive “Acid In My Fridge” for Sven Väth’s Cocoon imprint, and the following year she landed a residency at Väth’s infamous Cocoon parties at Ibiza’s Amnesia. Both DJing and playing live, Dinky has gone on to become a regular fixture across the continental scene, playing festivals like Sonar and 10 Days Off. Whether working with samples, software, hardware or some combination of all three, her tunes build compact, complex worlds out of sound examples of which can be heard on big hitting labels such as Wagon Repair and Vakant.
Peter Cornely AKA Karotte has worked himself to the top over the last twenty years, predominantly by his reputation as a globally revered DJ. The German entertainer’s love for the music can clearly be heard and seen in his sets, and it is this passion that has lead him to stay on top of the pile for so many years. Now a resident for Cocoon Frankfurt and Ibiza, his open approach to all electronic genres, ranging from minimal to house to breakbeat, make his style unpredicatable and innovative; certainly an inspiration to aspiring djs around the world. He rocked System at Mint last year, and standout sets at Love Family Park and Awakenings Festival recently lay further claim to his powers on the turntables. We can think of no better than these two to rip up the outdoor terrace.
Supporting, hosting the second room are men of the minute Cognosco, who have been making waves in the city with their infamous parties at The Loft. All this in a fresh, outdoor, city centre venue, with sound provided by the mighty Funktion One. You’d be mad to miss out.

Mathias Kaden
This month we welcome back perhaps the best DJ to grace our decks since we started out in 2007. It gives us great pleasure in welcoming back to Louche Mathias Kaden.
A true heavyweight on the global scene, Mathias treated us to quite a performance last March, where he demonstrated his mind boggling turntable skills, exquisite taste in music and energetic presence behind the decks. A hectic touring schedule has meant it has taken us some time to bring him back, but the scene is now set for Mathias to blow Mint Club’s roof off once more.
Kaden’s sets are renowned for their rhythms and grooves: whether he’s the opening act, headliner or shutting the place down, a flair for the crowd and thorough grasp of the mood is always clear to be seen. Tunes out over the years on Vakant and Freude Am Tanzen, as well as his fabled sets with partner in crime Onur Ozer have built his reputation as a world class house and techno DJ, but recently he has been working on broadening his musical horizons…
Studio 10, his debut album, which came out last year on Vakant shows a completely different side to the infinitely talented producer. The album combines classic Kaden elements of Latin and African rhythms with the electronic grooves and scatty focused intelligence of the Berlin-centric minimal techno movement. On top of this however the album demonstrates so much more. The 12-track LP features rhodes-driven jazz, funky flugelhorns, sad violins, and sweetly soft lyrics, which push ‘Studio 10’ into the category of modern world music, a matured sound for the globalised club generation.
With huge gigs lined up for the summer, including playing the main room for Cocoon Ibiza’s opening party, Mathias’ reputation looks only to get bigger. Come down on May 15th and witness a modern house hero in full flow.

Onur Özer
Vera
2010 sees Louche and System team up for a series of bank holiday summer parties around the city. The first installment is at The Mint Club, with guests Onur Özer and Vera.
Özer began his career in the late nineties when minimal and tech-house were making a resurgence in Istanbul. In a city oppressed by both a stifling heat and a stagnant club scene, Onur helped battle to change the old rules and break old habits, breathing fresh life into the capital. In 2002 he began to export his sound to different cities in Germany, and since then he hasn’t looked back; playing everywhere from Mutek to Fabric to Cocoon. His fabled back to back sets with Louche favourite and close friend Matthias Kaden are legendary, and his flair behind the decks has lead him to record a prestigious Watergate compilation CD. 2005 was perhaps his breaking year however, when he started his relationship with Vakant Records, releasing his first EP for the immense label in August. That month Germany’s Groove Magazine marked him as a top up and comer, and the releases for Vakant have not stopped since.
Robert Johnson resident Vera stands for sophisticated, deep, electronic dance music; her sound slotting in somewhere between deep house and techno. Her work with Maayan Nidam as Maratrax has appeared on Oslo records, and her solo productions have found their way onto both of Tanzmann’s labels Moon Harbour and Cargo Edition. Whilst holding down her residency at Robert Johnson, Frankfurt night Monza upped sticks and mover to Ibiza in 2005, taking with them Vera, who gained her first international residency that year. Twelve months later and she was playing DC10, Panorama Bar and T- Bar, tribute to her influence and talent as a DJ.
Louche and System bring change to summer bank holidays this year, and with these two at the helm we are guaranteed to get off to a flyer.

Zip
Margaret Dygas
One of the most iconic imprints of our time, Perlon Records oozes cool. Whether it be the wonderfully unique music or their stunning graphic design and visual identity, it is clear to see why the German super label is so admired. Tonight they are all yours, as Louche proudly presents Perlon Records, featuring co-founder Zip and label artist Margaret Dygas.
Founded in ’97 by Zip and Markus Nikolai, Perlon’s intellectual twist on electronic music has seen artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Akufen, Maayan Nidam and Cassy release on the ground breaking label, and their refusal to bend to the digital format in favor of vinyl has seen them gain respect from all corners of the globe. 1999′s suPERLONgevity compilation release featured ‘Bushes’, a track which has since been remixed by Fatboy Slim and Derrick Carter. A tribute to Perlon’s influence on modern dance music.
Thomas Franzmann AKA Zip began his illustrious musical career in 1986, as lead vocalist for the band Second Voice. The next eleven years were spent exploring 4/4 music, and after a move to Frankfurt, Perlon was born. Thomas has released on Perlon under several influential pseudonyms; Pantytec, Dimbiman and Narcotic Syntax. He is also part of the laptop jam supergroup Narod Niki, a five man off the cuff live set created by Ricardo and also including Hawtin, Luciano, and Daniel Bell. He selectively gigs at only the worlds finest venues, holding exclusive residencies at Panorama Bar and Harry Klein. Indeed, Zip can often be seen spinning back to back with his contemporaries and friends from the Narod Niki crew. The man, and his label are clearly an important chapter of contemporary house.
Supporting is Margaret Dygas, an artist who’s great productions caught Perlon’s eyes recently. Margaret has has a colourful upbringing, living in Poland, Germany, L.A, New York and London before settling down in Berlin to work on music full time. A fashion student originally, it was her time spent in London and The Big Apple where she was exposed to the vibrant electronic scenes that have made her the artist she is today. Releases on Perlon, Contexterrior and Harry Klein display her passion for dub, techno and everything in-between. The electronic-tech vibe of her present sets incorporate the deep and minimal sounds she loves, whilst retaining the driving funk of her musical past, and crowds all over the globe flock to see her do her thing.
Perlon parties are an extremely rare occurance, and it gives us tremendous pleasure to bring these two, and the Perlon musical ethos to The Mint Club. Trust us; this one is going to be very special.

Nima Gorji
This month we’re delighted to welcome an artist we have been dying to bring to Mint Club for some time now; the Ibiza Underground regular that is Nima Gorji.
Nima, originally born in Iran was the son of a live musician, and it was this that sparked his initial interest in music. A childhood spent studying at music school followed where Nima developed a real passion for electronic music. Years later and he has risen to being one of the music scenes most well respected Dj / Producers.
2005 saw Nima move full time to Ibiza, and he took no time to settle in; swiftly landing the coveted Friday morning residency at the world famous Space terrace. Since then it’s been his regular DJ sets at Ibiza Underground which have really seen his talent get noticed across the island. His style is a combination of tribal and driving house, perfectly built for the dance-floor. His five years spent living and playing on the White Isle have seen his DJ sets gain acclaim from all angles.
Productions for influential labels such as Love letters From Oslo and Moon Harbour have been a mesmerizing success, gaining support from the likes of Mathias Kaden to Loco Dice and beyond. With plenty more releases scheduled for 2010 Nima Gorjis’ stock continues to rise as a major DJ and producer.
We welcome Nima to Louche for an exclusive 3 hour set as he makes his highly anticipated Leeds debut.

Brothers Vibe
Dorian Paic
Louche stamp their mark on Saturdays in Leeds this month with an unsurpassable array of talent in Brother’s Vibe and Dorian Paic.
First up, flying all the way from the east coast USA for a rare UK performance is Tony Rodriguez aka Brother’s Vibe. Tony has dedicated his life to house music; his first gig came at just fourteen, and he has been producing and remixing for the past twenty three years. He owns four labels which span the spectrum of house music and has had more releases than we’ve had hot meals.
Through the years, Tony has gained the respect and support of DJs across the globe on all levels of the ladder. From those whom he first met when getting into the scene in Jersey in the seventies, to Frankfurt’s modern day players. Indeed Rodriguez has experienced a huge resurgence over the past couple of years, with releases on 8 Bit, Moon Harbour and Deep Vibes bringing him to the attention of a new generation of house music fans.
Dorian Paic needs little introduction to Louche regulars. One of the stand out sets from our second season, the Raum Music Boss returns to the Mint Club to great anticipation. Dorian’s excellent mixing skills and his profound musical knowledge give his sets an eclectic and sophisticated vibe, and the global scene has really taken note of this. Dorian now spins in the worlds biggest clubs; from Amnesia to Matter, and from La Terrazza to Cro Bar. Among Dorian’s biggest plaudits is none other than Sven Vath, who claims Dorian is the most underated Dj on the planet.
Louche take you on a journey this evening; in the driving seat a true house music legend of over thirty years and one of contemporary house’s most influential label bosses. Leeds we give you Brothes Vibe & Dorian Paic.

Shaun Reeves
Lee Foss
Louche brings you yuletide greetings and a whole lot more with the introduction of two world-class acts in our final party of the year.
It is no coincidence that Shaun Reeves is still renowned today for being at the sharp edge of the dance movement. A Detroit native, who was not happy to sit on his heels in the Motor City, Shaun pioneered the slow trickle of acts towards Berlin that would soon become a flood at the turn of the 21st century.
His music is a unique blend; forgotten tracks from his deep back catalogue spun in fresh and exciting ways, mixed seamlessly with house, techno and minimal from the very forefront of the music scene.
His productions for the likes of Raum and Crosstown have found favour in Europe, USA and beyond; while his DJing at the likes of Panorama Bar, Watergate and the legendary Beatstreet loft parties is acclaimed to the extent that Louche favourites Seth Troxler, Miss Fitz and Lee Curtiss are unanimous in claiming he is a more accomplished perfomer than the lot of them.
After spending years as one of Chicago’s most eminent DJs, Lee Foss moved to L.A. and began to draw the international acclaim that his work both as a dj and producer had long deserved. A residency at Avalon Hollywood soon followed, as well as playing at the notorious Culprit rooftop parties at the Standard.
Now based in London, and with his Hot Natured production collaboration with Jamie Jones blowing up, Lee’s global status is sky rocketing. With his slow, deep and sensual sound being championed by everyone from Laurent Garnier to Ewan Pearson, Lee’s diary in 2010 is set to only get busier.
With a much anticipated Saturday night residency at Mint in the new year, Louche invites you to celebrate our final Friday night party with us in typical fashion.

Markus Fix
Alex Celler
Two years on from their first party at Mint, Louche celebrate their second anniversary, with a very special line up. In conjunction with the Cécille Records 2nd birthday world tour, we proudly present Markus Fix and Alex Celler.
Nick Curly’s superlabel Cécille needs little introduction. A concept formed in Mannheim two years ago, Cécille has spread into a global brand, and is perhaps the most influential label in the contemporary house movement. Marcus Fix, a major player in the Frankfurt music scene, has been releasing on Cécille from the beginning, his unique blend of deep house and smooth minimal techno quickly shooting his reputation sky high. Fast forward to 2009 and he has released on the best respected house labels out there, from Oslo to Deep Vibes to Be Chosen. As a dj he’s worked crowds the world over and with Sven Vath recognising his ability, and swiftly snapping him up to Cocoon, this world domination is sure to continue.
Greek by right, londoner by choice, Alex Celler has been making waves on the circuit for a year now; his tribal infused rythms gaining him acclaim from Ricardo and Loco Dice to Dj Sneak and Laurent Garnier. His tunes, cowritten by Louche favorite Anthea, were put out by Cecille this year, but Alex’s tracks can also be heard on Area Remote, Freak n Chic and Tuning Spork to name but a few. After the screaming success of Louche’s sell out freshers party at Wire, and their huge reopening party at Mint, birthday parties don’t get much bigger than this.

Nekes
Ray Okpara
Quarantined for the summer, Louche returns with a blend of Frankfurt, Mannheim and Berlin influences courtesy of Oslo Records’ Ray Okpara and Nekes.
Stunning performances at Sonar confirmed their reputation for flawless mixing and flowing dancefloor-friendly sets. Ray Okpara came of age as a DJ/producer with long-time friend Johnny D. Crossbreeding warm house melodies with dizzying techno loops, his African roots add soul and deep percussion to the mix.
As for Nekes, the Time Warp resident and his Oslo co-founder Federico Molinari have created their very own super-label. A major force with its up-to-the minute Mannheim/Frankfurt sound, Okpara and Nekes set the standard with tracks harnessed by Luciano, Markus Fix and Loco Dice. Two hugely successful years for Louche have secured a fantastic crowd that keeps on coming back for more. Ladies & gentlemen: we give you Oslo Records.

Miss Fitz
Lauhaus
United for freshers week, Louche & Twaddle leave home turf to join mid week party starters Eknosketch to welcome students old & new back to Leeds. Weve left no expense spared as we invite two international stars in Miss Fitz & Lauhaus to test out the newly refurbed Wire.
Louche favorite Maayan Nidam aka Miss-Fitz has been spinning and producing music since 1999. Her releases on Raum Musik, Freak n’ Chic and Circus Company have received world wide acclaim, and with a superb performance at Louche last year, and a beautifully constructed podcast, it was only a matter of time until she came back to grace our decks again. Expect house and techno of the highest order from this super talented globe trotter.
With Dutch man of the moment Lauhaus also on the bill it looks like were a tad spoilt for the evening. After his stunning performance for Twaddle last year it was inevitable he would return. Label boss of Soweso, 1 half of the live project polder & releases on Dutch super label Area remote and most recently Cocoon. Not to mention performances at Awakenings festival and Fabric leaves his CV looking pretty impressive. Fitz and Lauhaus will be first to test out the newly refurbed Wire, with a new DJ booth, new Funktion 1 soundsystem and extra trimmings in place, the start of the season looks set to go off with a bang.

Together for one last session, Louche and Mono_Cult aim to surpass the buzz of their frenzied Easter party before Sonar and Ibiza take hold. The name Anthea is on everyone’s lips this summer as her elegant take on deep house and techno propels her round the globe. Having shared a booth with the likes of Loco Dice and Jamie Jones, a stunning podcast for Ibiza Voice gave warning of her talent, ask any regular at Fabric, Space or T Bar for proof.
With production allies like Alex Celler, she’s already made her mark on Phonica, Cécille and Freak’n'Chic. Support across the minimal/house spectrum saw ‘The Rock’ sell out within a month – now ‘Retrocesco EP’ on Cécille is primed to follow suit.

Konrad Black
Robert Dietz
After a successful first 3 months of 2009, two of the freshest brands in Leeds, mono_cult and Louche, get together to put on a very special show.
Louche have secured the services of Berlin based Canadian Konrad Black, a man who burst onto the scene 3 years ago with his dark, shadowy hit ‘Medusa Smile’. It captured the hearts of dancefloors around the globe and propelled him into the upper echelons of electronic music. Since then he has become a much sought after producer, releasing on Wagon Repair and Minus as well as remixing for acts such as Tiga and Audion respectively. Now located in Berlin, he is a resident of the legendary Panorama Bar. This has caught the attention of Berlin super club, Watergate, who have asked him to mix and compile their new mix compilation, due out in early spring.
On a housier tip, mono_cult have brought Frankfurt resident Robert Dietz to the party. Ever since Reboot recommended him to us a year ago, we have been working with him to get him on at just the right time. Dietz has enjoyed success over the last year with releases on Cecille Numbers, Deep Vibes and be chosen. With tours booked in for Australia and Japan as well as exclusive dates at Rex Club in Paris and Cocoon in Frankfurt, Robert is certainly one to watch in 2009.

Mathias Kaden
Riding an avalanche of deep techno and percussive house, Louche warms its soul from the heat of an international star. Mathias Kaden is the man who defined the deep organic sound of Berlin’s Vakant label. Pioneering work like his Moron/Shanti EP buries Afro Latino grooves under tenacious minimal techno.
As Onur Ozer’s one-time DJ partner, Mathias’ Klanglauf nights attract the most sought after acts in Germany. Fabric and Sonar have both melted in the glare of his intense, rhythmic sets. Only last summer, he joined Ricardo Villalobos for a scorching debut at Cocoon.
Now he’s on a path to the top in 2009. His Get Physical remix of Noze’s ‘You Have To Dance’ has won the support of M.A.N.D.Y. and Trentemoller, but as Louche is set to discover the super talented DJ and producer is the one to watch out for.

Lee is revered as a producer who fuses soulful, euphoric grooves with sinister bass and percussion. As a DJ with a decade of acclaim, he unleashes killer tracks like ‘Sexy Dancer’ with a machine-like intensity.

Hooked on a monthly fix of cutting-edge techno, minimal and house, Leeds opens its arms to a legend in Matt John.
A minimalist par excellence, he’s learnt from the masters, Hawtin and Villalobos. Matt’s productions are inspired by Berlin’s after-hours scene and his ‘hyperkinetic’ sets move dance floors at peerless venues like Beatstreet, Club de Visionaires and Bar 25.
Armed with three decks and an array of live equipment, he arrives at the Mint Club off the back of residencies at Ibiza’s headline events Cocoon and Monza. He’s renowned all night Bar 25 sessions have been classed as Ground shaking, bringing plaudits from all directions.
Now Matt will be itching to unleash his deep, ‘holographic’ sound in Leeds’ most intimate club venue. With its residents in party mood and a cult figure in town, Louche is growing up disgracefully.

Shady, debauched and wickedly immoral, Louche returns to harness the firepower of the refurbished Mint Club. The venue is back on top after a year of head-rushing parties. Leeds’ most deviant minimal-techno-house promoters will test its enhanced sound system to the limit.
Fresh from rocking Fabric with Ricardo Villalobos, Crosstown signing and Detroit émigré Seth Troxler offers up his unique brand of sweaty, experimental ‘teshno’.
Fellow Berlin-er Miss Fitz road-tests a reputation honed at Watergate and Robert Johnson Frankfurt. Crowning their two-hour sets with sixty heart-stopping minutes back-to-back, the afterparty continues on to a new, soon-to-be-revealed location.
Energised by the summer break, the long, twisted nights have only just begun…
