Louche 105 - Roman Flügel

We've had the pleasure of meeting Roman Flügel twice now, and not only have we seriously got down to his performances, but have found him to be a thoroughly nice chap! This was confirmed when we got a text last week from the man himself saying he'd recorded us a mix if we'd like to hear it. We did. And here it is. An hour of trademark Flügel rhythms, jacking, groovy and weird; a podcast to freak out the freaks! Tune in and get in the groove for his next Leeds appearance; with us down at Mint Warehouse next weekend.

Louche 104 - Glenn Astro

We've never met Glenn Astro before, but we see his name everywhere, it's as if we knew him in a past life, maybe. He's contributed podcasts already to our good friends Six Axle and Butter Side Up, and is a member of Odd Socks Records, the Berlin based label on which our resident Josh T also releases. Move D was even dropping his tunes left right and centre when we booked him in November. No surprise really; Glenn's music is ludicrously funky. He has a trademark baseline that bumps and grooves, percussion that swings and shuffles, often laid over lush chords and stabs. He's no slouch on the decks either, as this (and plenty of his other) podcast proves. Big cheers mate, look forward to meeting you soon.

Louche 103 - Willie Burns

New York badman Willie Burns has turned out an absolute corker for this week's mix, a blissful and eclectic stroll through some tunes that are currently making him tick. Producing lovely music for labels such as L.I.E.S. and The Trilogy Tapes since 2011, we expect Willie to go on to big things. His music is refreshing, different and thoroughly groovy, for proof, check one of our favourite tracks of last year; 'African Love Story'. But back to the mix. Like we were saying, this is a proper podcast. We won't give you any clues as to what you can expect to hear, just press play and enjoy.

Louche 102 - Kevin McPhee

A real interesting mix this week courtesy of Canadian Kevin McPhee. Starting off on an ambient tip, the mix then works it's way through raw, analogy techno and house rhythms with a UK garage interlude! Hailing from Toronto, the city which spawned the likes of Basic Soul Unit, Azari & lll and Art Department, Kevin is part of the new breed of producers to come out of the Canadian city, alongside others such as Gingy & Bordello's and Nautiluss. His tunes tread a fine link between house and bass, check his releases on Hypercolour, NakedLunch and Idle Hands; all soulful, organic numbers with Kevin's signature sound shining through.

Louche 101 - Neville Watson

Neville Watson reports for duty this week, the Englishman turning out an hour of trademark, raw, up front house. Bitten hard by the acid house bug in the late 80s Neville's has been a life long love affair with electronic music. His career has taken him from raver to record shop and label worker, to being a resident DJ, to eventually becoming a producer and DJ in his own right, on labels such as Clone and Dissident. He has an excellent working relationship with KiNK, the pair teaming up since 2006 to co produce and perform live together, armed with a hefty arsenal of machines and synths. He's even published a book on rave culture together with his bro, the renowned photographer Gavin Watson. Neville lives and breathes house music, so it comes as little surprise that his podcast is quality! Check it out.

And we've made it to the century! It's been great fun curating this series over the last 4 years, and we'd like to say a big Thank You to all the artists who have contributed their music, and our tens of thousands of loyal subscribers out there around the world. To celebrate the occasion we have a special one for you, a mix from Danillo Plessow AKA Motor City Drum Ensemble. The last podcast he recorded was way back, so it's an honour and a pleasure to release this as the 100th.Exquisite house, disco and boogie is served up on a delicious hour long Centurion's platter, a great listen, very representative of the talented young German's unique style. Those familiar with his Raw Cuts work, and those present at Louche, Leeds in January for his debut set with us, will really dig this peach of a recording. So kick back and turn it up! Thanks Danillo, and thank you for listening over the years. Here's to the next hundred. Over and out. x

Louche 099 - BLM

Ben Micklewright AKA BLM turns out number 99 this week, stick a flake in it and turn it up! Mixing house and garage since he was just 15, and a graduate from a sound engineering degree, Ben has been in the game a long time. It comes as little surprise then that his career is beginning to flourish. His label, Fear Of Flying, is still going strong after 7 years and over 50 releases, many of which we have ourselves purchased over the years. His solo studio work is also kicking off; Underground Quality, Tsuba and Sudden Drop have all been put out his minimal deep house sound, which finds its way into many top drawer DJ's boxes. The mix is deep, moody and romantic, and was recorded, strangely, at 8 in the morning just after he woke up. Cheers Ben, a cracking way to end the double figures. Next stop, 100!

Canadian Born and Berlin Based Nathan Jonson AKA Hrdvsion steps up to his turntables this week. Mixing us a hypnotic blend of house, techno and bass music, this podcast is a little different to our recent output; a real interesting genre switcher awash with eerie vocals and pulsating baselines. It comes as no surprise: Hrdvsion is best known for fusing electro, glitch, techno and all sorts of experimental electronics in his i octane live sets, which he has taken to clubs and festivals around the world, Sonar and Mutek to name but a few. He has a long running relationship with Wagon Repair, on which he released his second album 'Where Did You Just Go?' in 2010, alongside a whole catalogue of 12s over his 11 year career.
Our beloved podcast series is now just 3 mixes away from the century, and things are really starting to heat up. This week we have another belter of a recording, from the talented young Belgian San Soda. Real name Nicolas Geysens, he's a former Red Bull Music Academy graduate, and maker of some really lovely music for We Play House, as San Soda, and alongside his pal Red D as FCL. We're sure many of you will be familiar with the music he has produced over his illustrious career so far. He's an upcoming guest at 2 Louches; February 16th in Leeds and March 9th in London, and if his performances are as good as this mix, we are in for a treat. We can't stop listening; an hour and a half of some of the best house music you'll have heard this year so far. Tune in, turn it up and freak out!

Louche 096 - Moomin

A lovely little selection from one of our favourite artists this week, with German producer Moomin stepping up to the decks. Back in his childhood Moomin used to record mixes on an old tape deck; collections of funk, jazz and hip hop sampled from the radio. It was only around the late noughties when he refined his house sound, and began to gig around his adopted home Berlin. His beautifully soulful and grooved out beats have set the modern house scene alight, released on labels such as Smallville, Laid and Aim, he has been branded as one of the game's most promising producers. He took his DJ and live sets from the States to Europe to Japan last year, and when you listen to this, you'll hear why he is so in demand.

Louche 095 - Juju & Jordash

We are lucky enough to release a special recording this week, courtesy of one of our favourite live acts, Juju & Jordash. Recorded in December at London Calling in Brussels for a Downbeat Label night, this live set has had us grooving in the office since we first listened. The guys, an Israeli duo who now live in Amsterdam took an array of gear with them for the show, music geeks, keep your ears peeled for the 707 and 808 roland drum units, as well as a Yamaha DX11, Korg Poly 800 II, a Juno 6 and SH 101. No wonder it sounds so lush, analogy and warm. Absolutely right up our street this, we reckon you'll agree. You can catch the guys' excellent music on labels such as Dekmantel (check last years album) Golf Channel and Workshop- where they team up with our pal Move D as Magic Mountain High. Thanks guys, a fabulous addition to the series. 5 to go till the century…

Louche 094 - Jason Spinks

Fans of the Louche Podcast Series will recall 074, mixed by Finn Johannsen of Hard Wax, Berlin. Finn's excellent mix was the first in a collection of podcasts recorded by record shop workers, aiming to showcase the guys behind the scenes, the guys who supply DJs with their ammunition for their weekend gigs. This week's mix, and our first poddy of the new year, comes courtesy of Jason Spinks from our favourite Vinyl Emporium in London, Kristina Records.
Located on the Kingsland Road in Dalston, Kristina has been our go to store for quality deep house and techno tunes since it opened, a shop who seem to share our tastes in underground selections. With all the freshest new cuts, and plenty of timeless oldies spread across most genres, Kristina is seriously worth a look in if you're ever in East London. Putting on regular in stores, previously featuring Andres, Tim Sweeney and Hunee, plus the occasional Kristina Showcase somewhere around town, it's fair to say the guys at Kristina have their finger firmly on the pulse. The mix, recorded by co owner and house specialist Jason Spinks in November 2012, is a hundred minutes of Kristina's trademark sounds; and you can be sure that Jason plucked his selections fresh from the shelves. A vinyl enthusiast, Jason lives up to the reputation of the store with this wonderful mix, including gritty analogue cuts alongside blissed out deep house that kept us locked in from start to finish. Kristina we salute you!

Louche 093 - Tall Black Guy

Perfect driving home for Christmas / present wrapping / festive drinking music for you this week, courtesy of Detroit's Tall Black Guy. Terrel Wallace aka TBG has seriously caught our attention this year, thanks to a string of lovely 7 inch cuts released on his own imprint, First Word Records and Bstrd Roots. Motown, Jazz, and Early Hip‐Hop were TBG's early inspirations, and these are clear to hear in his work; amazingly soulful music, filled with genius sample flips and deft production chops. Check his Al Green edits and very recent Jackson 5 remix. Pure class. He's been championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, and with every new beat worldwide recognition nips closer to his heels. His podcast is a smooth blend of whats floating his boat at the minute, including a few of his own beats. Lovely stuff from the 6 foot 5 maestro, Merry Christmas x

Louche 092 - Pascal Stürmer

Pascal Stürmer is an avid record collector we got to know through music forum Underlying Form just over a year ago. He's provided a fresh source of inspiration, bottomless enthusiasm, and some of the coolest mixes we've heard in a really long time. The Saarbrücken resident (which is also home to talents such as Prosumer and M.A.N.D.Y) is a devout vinyl collector and top-drawer digger. At the prodigal age of 22, he has a seamless knowledge of house ranging from before he was born, up until 10 years in the future. His style leans towards a deep, blissed out trippy sound (his inspirations are found primarily in the productions of Herbert and Gemini), but never straying too far from the dancefloor. This particular mix is Pascal's personal astro surfing soundtrack, "perfect for cold winter nights", featuring some new jams, some old and some rare personal favourites. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!

Louche 091 - Benedikt Frey

Up next a Frankfurt based artist who's really caught our eye this year, Benedikt Frey. A relative newcomer to the game he has released dubby house and deep techno music on Live At Robert Johnson, Rotary Cocktail, Mule Electronics and Anton Zap's Ethereal Sound, as Benedikt Frey and also his alias Venedikt Reyf. His analogy tunes are washed with warm chords, twanging acid synth leads and snappy percussion. The tune that first caught out ears was his Ethereal release, part of a sampler also featuring beats by Vakula and Fred P no less. The podcast delves into house and techno with an accomplished touch, perfectly highlighting Frey's precise sound. Bravo Benedikt, bravo!

Born and raised in Miami but now based in New York City, Anthony Naples takes our podcast series to it's ninetieth episode, how time flies! Fresh to the game Anthony has had just two releases, but is seriously one to watch. His first record, The 'Mad Disrespect' EP on NYC's Mister Saturday Night, was an absolute slam dunk, dubbed by R.A. as one of the year's most memorable and exceptional singles. His recent remix of Four Tet's 128 Harps has been seriously doing the business for Louche HQ too; this dude has skills! His mix is upfront grooving house, with garage-y influences and plenty of bold, swinging percussion. Check Anthony's recent R.A.
Louche 089 - Move D

German house music aficionado and upcoming Louche guest Move D is next up, taking you through an hour of trademark musical magic. Recently recorded live on the road the mix is raw, groovy, acidic disco enfuzed house at it's very best. Real name David Moufang, Move D is a true underground hero. In the game since '94 his eclectic DJ sets inspire unequalled positive emotion, capable of dropping records that get even the nerdiest spotters in a twist. With releases on Workshop, Uzuri, Philpot, Compost and even Warp he is clearly no slouch in the studio either, his tunes rarely leave our box. David is a guest at both our upcoming Leeds and London birthday parties this November, a great way to make his Louche debut.

Louche 088 - Detroit Swindle

5th Birthday Leeds guests Detroit Swindle have delivered their podcast, upping the hype even more ahead of our long awaited half decade celebrations. The Amsterdam based duo have been having quite a 2012; their first wave of releases came this year on Murmur, Dirt Crew and Saints and Sonnets, all three well respected labels picking up on the boys' jacking, jazz enthuzed and very danceable sound. Jimpster's Freerange Records are next to release with the guys, an EP just around the corner we are told. They've already played Panorama Bar this year and a whole host of other top European venues; we witnessed them spin in Edinburgh recently and were very impressed, these lads' live set is gonna go down a treat at the birthday party guaranteed.

In the build up to our long awaited Apollonia Showcase on October 20th, upcoming guest and founder of the Apollonia collective Dan Ghenacia has turned out a very nice podcast to get you in the mood. Along with pals Dyed and Shonky, Dan formed Apollonia at the start of this year, and the label and three way back to back performance outfit has gone down like a house on fire since it's inception. They've been a main stay at Circo Loco DC-10 all summer, as well laying on showcases at Sonar, at home in Paris and beyond, not to mention how well the record label has done. Dan knows what it takes to run a successful imprint; it was he who ran the now dissolved Freak n Chic, so expect his new project to reach the very top. He's a top shelf DJ, check this deep and groovy podcast for proof, or even better, come see him at Mint next weekend.

Louche 086 - Citizen

With a handful of releases under his belt, on Australian Templar Sound, Kerri Chandler's MadTech and London's excellent Love Fever, newcomer to the scene Citizen has made quite a start to his house music career. Real name Laurence Matthew Blake, Citizen's impressively consistent output is unpretentious and well-tuned; classic 90's inspired low slung music with a modern twist. With emotive chords stabs and bumping bass lines he flirts with deep house's fundamentals, attracting both the purists and new school music lovers. Unsurprisingly his music has crept into many of the top DJ's boxes. His mix is as we expected, straight up raw house, and we love it!

Louche 085 - Binh

Resident Berliner Binh takes to the ones and twos this week. The German, who grew up in Dusseldorf is a serious underground head to those who know him; most famously for his residency at Berlin's summer hangout Club der Visionaere. Easily our top place to go when visiting the German capital the club is a typically understated venue, nestled on the banks of a canal shaded by trees. The music never stops 7 days a week, and your just as likely to see some big names playing there as residents. Binh hosts and plays at his bi-monthly Sunday day parties Noon, spinning an intricate blend of stripped back deep house and techno. He's recently been in Tobi Neumann's studio learning his way around, expect some productions from this guy soon. If they're anything like the tunes in his poddy then this young lad is definitely one to watch for the future.

Louche 084 - Trevino

We gear up for our first Louche of the new season by releasing a podcast by one of this weekend's headliners Trevino. Trevino, real name Marcus Kaye is a relative newcomer to the house and techno game, but has been involved with Electronic music for time- formerly making Drum n Bass as Marcus Intalex. A longstanding love for the 4/4 beat from his time raving in Mancheter back in the day saw him create his new moniker last year, and since he's been doing rather well! Releases on Craig Richard's The Nothing Special, Applepips and Hot Flush have blown our mind, and he's trotted the globe to showcase his stuff. Marcus certainly has a natural aptitude for house & techno music, and his mix perfectly demonstrates this, catch him alongside Fabric don Craig Richards this Saturday at Mint Club.

We awoke from a long and hazy bank holiday weekend to find that 'The Wolf' had left us a gift in our inbox to sooth our morning; his long awaited podcast. Zev's mix completes the set for us, now all of the Wolf + Lamb fam proper have contributed; Gadi (twice!), Soul Clap, No Regular Play, Slow Hands, Tanner Ross and PillowTalk. Their podcasts always prove popular, and we're sure this one will be no different, with Zev turning out an hour of quintessential sounding W + L music, featuring plenty of yet to be released gems from the likes of NRP, Jerome C and Wolf + Lamb themselves. As co-founder of the New York based collective you'd expect Zev's mix to be nothing short of world class, and guess what, it is!

Louche 082 - Bruno Schmidt

77 minutes of pleasure coming atcha this week, courtesy of our very own Bruno Schmidt. Louche's newest and youngest resident has been part of the team since 2009, bringing a stripped back and grooved out housey sound to our collective musical spectrum. Raised by a pack of wolves in Cambridge, Bruno's tastes were formed in part by witnessing acts such as Andrew Weatherall, Derrick May and Luke Slater at his local hang out The Priory. Four years spent absorbing the music scene in Leeds and now having it in London, his electronic palette now takes him on journeys right across the 4/4 musical landscape. His mix hypnotises, jacks and grooves through the confines of house, and is absolutely sick. Nice one mate.

Long since admirers of his music, we thought it was high time we asked MERC owner and Spectral artist Mark E to contribute to the series. First cutting his teeth in the production world making edits whilst at uni in Birmingham his infectious blend of lazy house and disco now takes him all over the world; he's currently touring Japan, and will come home via the States and Canada later this summer. Pitching somewhere between 105 and 115 bpm Mark's slow house sound has a unique spot on the global club music landscape, you need only listen to this mix to here why. Thanks Mark, we can't stop listening!

The hugely talented Nick Anthony Simoncino takes us up to number 80 this week, with a lovely hour long trip through the vibes and sounds of Chicago and Detroit. And it is these two US cities where Simoncino draws his influences as a producer, passionately and expertly capturing the essence of US House and Techno. So much so that he's recently been remixed by Mr Larry Heard, and has co-labbed with Tevo Howard. Extraordinary for a dude who grew up, and lives in a small city in rural Italy.
From gigs at Sonar to Free Rotation to Secretsundaze, Englishman John Heckle is getting the exposure his music rightly deserves. Djing since the tender age of 15 and releasing glorious house and techno on Mathematics Recordings, Heckle makes his Louche debut this month, and has recorded us a podcast to run alongside the gig. The mix is a 90 minute workout through John's signature analogy house and techno, featuring tracks from Theo, Larry Heard, Jeff Mills and the man himself.
Ahead of our next Fabric appearance at the end of the month, DJ Qu turns out his Louche x fabric mix for the series. As well as centering himself around the party community in New York, through its struggles brought on by Government legislatory policy that did not look kindly on the hedonistic practice of dance parties back in the mid 90's, DJ Qu has kept the music going through his label Strength Music as well as releasing on Jus-Ed’s label Underground Quality and Deep Vibes. For Qu house music never went away as he tells Fabric in this interview, which goes alongside the classic Qu styled mix. Catch the man with us in Room Three on the 30th June with Chicago legend Tevo Howard playing live and residents Brinsley Kazak and Bruno Schmidt.

A relative new comer to the game, Jay's first release 'Faith' on Kyle Hall's label Wild Oats is an absolute monster, and has been on heavy rotation within the Louche team all year. An edit of a nineties Faith Evans track, and limited to just 400 hand etched 7 inch copies, its seriously worth checking. Asides from this Jay curates his own podcast series 'Just A Groove' and his label ' Must Have Records', musically touching on everything from techno to hip hop. The podcast is an hour long workout of some of the juiciest house and techno you'll hear all summer; make yourself a Pina Colada and get this on yo!

Louche 075 - San Proper

On the latest Louche mixtape is a cat that’s been on our radar for a while now. We first noticed this chap after listening to some of his heterogeneous “Dr San Proper Soul Shows” on Amsterdam-based Red Light Radio. These mixes gave us a boiled down sample of the seemingly bottomless cache of quality underground music in San’s collection. He’s been over in Chile recently working closely on his new album, entitled ‘Animal’ with Ricardo Villalobos, and has delighted us with the releases he’s put out in the past 12 or so months on Perlon, Rush Hour, and enthralling Amsterdam label Studio Soulrock. One of the most sincere blokes we have met in the industry with a real belief in the sound he’s pushing, always keeping his shit real. This mix is super eclectic, touching on disco, house, folk, soul & rock; all of the highest calibre. The Propcast. Dr. San Proper. This is proper. San, you da man!

Louche 074 - Finn Johannsen

After dropping some serious euros on records whilst recently in Berlin, on the flight home we had a brain wave. In a musically inspiring city like the German capital, with all these top Djs buying tunes for their gigs every week, who are the behind the scenes guys who stock the shelves? The guys who's taste so influences our scene. This podcast starts a new mini collection within the Louche Podcast series, a selection of mixes created by dudes who work in record shops around the globe.First up, Hard Wax Berlin's House and Disco specialist Finn Johannsen. Working there since 2010, but cutting his teeth before then as a DJ, label owner and music journalist, Finn's knowledge and taste in the music we love is second to none. Buying in tunes from distributers which are in turn bought by music enthusiasts, DJ's or whoever else; Finn's selections help shape the city's musical climate. This mix, as you would expect, is sheer class; rolling from house to techno to a bit of proper old electro with consummate ease. Make sure you check Finn's new Louche Interview to support this podcast to learn more about the guy. Finn Johannsen and the others record shop buyers out there, we salute you!

Louche 073 - Bruno Pronsato & Archangel

We have a very special and exclusive mix to release this week, a live performance from Bruno Pronsato. His new project; Bruno Pronsato & Archangel is an ending, or rather, a new beginning for the talented producer's work. Having achieved sonically what he wanted from his old, stripped back minimal approach, his Archangel work is softer, more befitting of a cocktail soiree than a sweaty afterparty. The project uses the human voice as a major element, making commentaries on love and the party scene, the voice inside Bruno's head that has wanted to escape into his music for some time. The first Archangel EP 'The Bedroom Slant' is currently being finalised, keep your eyes and ears peeled for this exciting new project.

Louche 072 - Anonym

Man of mystery Anonym takes to the decks this week. As his name suggests, whilst we know very little about Anonym, we do know that he hails from the legendary Motor City, and the true essence of this city can be heard and felt in his classy music. Gritty, raw and crying out for sweaty basements, Anonym's music is sweetly constructed with a modern touch, check his releases on Vakant, Sushitech or Bass Culture for proof. The mix meanders through comtemporary 4/4 beats with comsumate ease, from groovy house to acidic trippy techno, and we can't get enough of it.

Louche 071 - Jenifa Mayanja

Deep house smoothness coming atcha this week, courtesy of Jenifa Mayanja. The Ugandan born musician now based in New York has been part of the underground house scene in NYC for 18 years, beginning her professional career as a dj and progressing into production into the late nineties. Remaining under the radar through her career, Jenifa is now starting to emerge into the limelight; a gig at Panorama Bar is coming up this weekend, and she's remixed Nina Kraviz and a release on Fred P's label Soul People recently. Her label Bumako Recordings has gone from strength top strength, with it's vinyl releases featuring artists from Lady Blacktronika to Anton Zap. Currently Jenifa and her famous other half DJ Jus-Ed have joined forces to create the “EDJ”, series featuring limited vinyl releases and cds which are self distributed.

Dj Deep takes us up to our 70th podcast this week. Since getting his DJing break from Laurent Garnier 20 years ago, Paris’s DJ Deep has forged a singular path in House and Techno, becoming known for his strong musical selection and dedicated appreciation of the music. He's played in the most prestigious clubs in the world over the years, including a longstanding residency at The Rex during the 90s. He's even designed one of the best DJ mixers in the world, the DJR400 portable rotary mixer – the travelling mixer of choice for DJs such as Theo Parrish, Carl Craig as well as DJ Deep himself. Besides this he owns the prestigious label Deeply Rooted House and has collaborated with artists including Saint Germain and Julien Jabre, with such high credentials, no wonder his podcast is so good.

Louche 069 - Brinsley Kazak

Louche founder and resident Brinsley Kazak mixes our sixty-ninth episode; a classic smooth builder of a mix with plenty of Chicago and Detroit influences blended with old and new contemporary house and techno. Perfectly flowing selections increasing in tempo over the 90 minutes, the mix is a prime example of Brinsley's live performances, which have been seen up and down the country, and of course at our home The Mint Club. The mix was recorded as promo for Louche's upcoming gig at Fabric, but we all agree that the recording's so tight that it had to be his long awaited podcast too. Sit tight and enjoy the ride.

San Franciscan trio PillowTalk dish out this weeks mix; a sublime hour long work out which perfectly showcases their wonderfully unique sound. Sammy D, Ryan Williams and Michael Tello's fusion of classic underground house along with modern RnB and boogie flexes all began by jamming around a baby grand piano in a kitchen about a year ago, and now can be heard on labels such as Wolf + Lamb, Life and Death, and Visionquest. Their alluring and charming pop-dance songs are inspired by anyone from the Beach Boys to Larry Heard, and we just can't get enough of them. This podcast is class from start to finish; an absolutely essential listen.

Louche 067 - Melon

Amsterdam based DJ and Producer Melon, real name Jeroen Hofer, crafts and spins exquisite house and techno, and seeing as we've been fans for a while, thought we'd get in touch for a podcast. Putting his chunky, grooving house out on his own label Ratio?music, as well as indulging his love for disco with his cheeky moniker Je Dávu, he has made a real name for himself at home, and also abroad, with venues such as Robert Johnson, Fabric and Panorama Bar amongst his recent bookers. A Dj's Dj, Melon's record collection spans three decades, and its easy to hear this diversity in taste shine through in his Louche podcast.

Louche 066 - Genius Of Time

We've been itching to release this podcast since it was sent over; a real peach of a mix by Genius Of Time. Hailing from Göteborg Sweden, the duo have been putting tip top quality house music out since 2010, on their own imprint Aniara and the excellent Royal Oak Records. Their productions are raw and expressive, sounding like music made in the heart of Chicago rather than Scandanavia, and you can hear these U.S. influences poking through in their podcast. We're happy to announce that you can catch the boys playing with Louche and Brawther in Room 3 at Fabric this March, and after hearing this mix we can't wait!

The half Swedish, half British DJ and producer has been releasing his shuffly, uber funky beats since 2003, on labels such as Morris Audio, Fear of Flying, Moon Harbour and promising new Leeds based label FINA. His DJing has taken him right around the globe, from Tokyo to Budapest and beyond, he's even resident at one of the UK's coolest festivals Freerotation.
Young New Jersey natives Voices Of Black turn out our first mix of 2012, a few weeks ahead of their upcoming gig at Mint Club alongside Gadi. The Wolf + Lamb wonder-kids' debut release 'Plastik Dolls' on the Brooklyn taste making label was a colourful journey through house and disco, owing much to their greatest influences, such as Fela Kuti, George Clinton, J Dilla & Thom Yorke. Look out for their new album, coming out this year, which we're told is a cosmic and highly soulful masterpiece. Their Louche Podcast grooves in typical Wolf + Lamb fashion, and after having this on repeat at Louche HQ for a while now, we can't wait to welcome them to Leeds for their city debut.

With releases on Visionquest, Sammy Dee's new imprint Ultrastretch, Leftroom and Retrofit, plus another full release on Visionquest out soon, it's clear to see we have an extremely talented dude on podcast duty this week. Chris' releases this year have included an album on Josh Wink's Ovum, a release on Hot Creations and very recently an EP on Culprit; needless to say the dude's production skills are absolutely razor sharp. A unique, fresh, and forward thinking musician Mr M A N I K's skills on the decks are also unquestioned, his beats taking him right the way round the world so far this year, From London to L.A, Berlin to Barcelona.
It gives us great pleasure to put out a DJ mix by the one and only Crazy P this week. The 5 piece band, together since 1996 (wow!) are Leeds faithfuls, with strong ties with 2020 Vision, and the party Asylum, where Crazy P just last weekend played their 8th birthday party. The bands musical roots lie in early house and techno, and their performances, while playing live or Djing stay true to these influences, whilst merging them with disco, soul and boogie vibes. We've seen them play many many times before, including Sonar Barcelona and at this years marvellous Secret Garden Party, where they took the bloody roof off! The mix is a funky eclectic compilation, a perfect weekend starting podcast. Follow the guys on Twitter here: and check their website here:

José Manuel Alvarez, also known as Dubbyman is up next, delivering a deeper than deep mix to add to the Louche series. The Spaniard debuted as a DJ in '92 under the name José Vertice, spinning acid house, with tinges of funk and hip hop amongst his sets. Flash forward to now and his sound is deeper, more dubbed out house with electrofunk flavours, as attendees of Sonar Festival and the highly respected Free Rotation will testify. He and his brother Above Smoke run the label Deep Explorer, where their productions are released alongside international artists like Mike Huckaby, Rick Wade, Sascha Dive and The Lady Blacktronika.
Born and bred Parisian Shonky mixes our next episode, ahead of his hotly anticipated performance at our Leeds 4th birthday. A purely natural house DJ, the talented Frenchman has had quite a year; he was heavily involved with this year's Circo Loco parties at DC 10, released some massive bombs and is currently setting a label up with Dan Ghenacia and good pal of Louche Dyed. Look out for the imprint Apollonia, coming very soon to a record shop near you. The mix crosses differing channels of house, grooving from funky stabs and rhythms to tougher edged sounds. A worthy addition to the series, and excellent taste maker for our next Leeds party- November 19th.

Set up in 2006 the imprint has released tracks and remixes from the likes of Kris Wadsworth, Maya Jane Coles, Agnes, Jozif and many more, to the delight of fans of underground house and techno the world over. As well as having a sense of humour, and never taking themselves too seriously the label consistently avoids trends and themes, resulting in true musical freedom for the artists, and something continually different for record buyers, djs and clubbers. After meeting Brinsley's dad Cyrus at a party over the summer the boys were so taken by the music aficionado and all-round Ibiza legend that they wanted their Louche Podcast to reflect not just their tastes, but his too. With tracks selected by Cyrus, ourselves, and Eli and Charlie, this mix navigates house, disco, a bit of classic rock n roll and hip hop in classic Soul Clap fashion, perfectly arranged and dripping with class. Leeds subscribers will know all about the Clap's imminent gig with us, and from listening to this bad boy we're even more exited for the next Louche at Mint Club.
Leeds is still shaking after the Bicep boys rattled our fair city to her core in July, and now we're delighted to put out a podcast by the Northern Irishmen. Through their world renowned blog "Feel My Bicep" they push disco, funk, Italo, house and techno old and new, always of a high standard, their taste in music clearly impeccable. Their sound when playing out and producing nowadays is raw, ruff n tuff house, the guys slightly moving away from more discoey music, that they still frequently push on the blog. Their set at our annual summer courtyard party, and again later on that evening at Mint were both top banana, as is this mix. Cheers lads!

Louche 053 - Kris Wadsworth

An excellent mix from Detroit chappy Kris Wadsworth this week. The Hypercolour and Morris Audio producer has written his own special message to accompany the mix, so we'll leave this in the words of the man himself...Recorded on the first take while I was high as fuck on water and Marlboro 100's, two hours after I woke up on August 1, 2011 with: my personal 1210's, my shitty-ass taped headphones that have dog bite marks on them, some needles I had laying around next to syringes, strictly vinyl only from my horrible fucking collection, and some skills I guess Ive gripped up after DJing since 16 years old in Uranus. Ive been a DJ in Uranus for about 11 years and Ive been making tracks in Uranus for about 13 years. Ive been on DJ hiatus in Uranus for awhile this year just making records and doing remixes. I hope Im ready to come rock with all you guys again soon.

Louche 052 - No Regular Play

Greg Paulus and Nick DeBruyn AKA No Regular Play met as eight year olds growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and after exploring music in ranging genres throughout their younger years, formed No Regular Play in 2008 when they met Zav and Gadi in Brooklyn. The pairing have been heavily involved with Wolf + Lamb ever since, contributing to the collective's supreme musical output with a string of releases and breath taking live shows, incorporating live trumpet played by Greg. Their Louche podcast is an exquisite listen: full of sensual vocals and chords, its no wonder they are held in such high esteem in the Wolf + Lamb camp. Check this one out, it's a hotty.

Louche 051 - Brawther

This weeks instalment comes courtesy of Frenchman Brawther, who has been turning heads of late. A producer for about five years as both Brawther and as his moniker Izmo, the young Parisian has been influenced by house, real garage and ambient Warp-esque electronica on his journey to become the accomplished, versatile producer and DJ he is today. He's heavily involved in scorching hot labels 'My Love is Underground' and Balance Recordings, producing for the former under the alias Paris Underground Trax. He even bagged the first release on secretsundaze's new imprint. Need we say more about this dude's serious electronic music skills. The mix is pure class, warm analog sounds from start to finish, a more than worthy addition to the series.

Louche 050 - Baby Prince

It's been just over two years since the launch of our podcast series, and after 49 episodes and by our maths about 350,000 beats, we've reached our first milestone. Who better we thought to call upon to record our half century than our good pals at Wolf + Lamb, the mix coming exclusively from Baby Prince, the artist formerly known as Gadi Mizrahi. This special, extended episode was mixed live at Farbfenseher, or as Gadi calls it 'the Marcy of Berlin', a club which encapsulates the vibe of the collective's spiritual home in Brooklyn. Spanning house, hip hop and disco this mix is exactly why we can't get enough of this label, and anyone that has been to one of our Wolf + Lamb parties over the years will definitely recall hearing some of these sexy ass tracks. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the series so far, and to all you subscribers out there. Here's to the next fifty : )

Louche 048 - Murphy Jax

A tribute to the Windy City this week, as we introduce our newest episode, courtesy of Mr Murphy Jax. Somewhat of a throwback to the golden era of Chicago and disco, Jax maintains classic vibes in his work, and we simply can't get enough. Lush melodies and vocals wash over this mix of Chicago house and disco, full of old gems, a few of which your bound to recognise. We'd hazard a guess that Larry Levan would be all over this like a tramp on chips. You can catch his own productions on 12", released by Dutch label Clone and Canadian My Favorite Robot. Keep your ears to the ground for his upcoming release "We Dance" on Turbo Recordings. For now though, sit back, and enjoy this absolute peach of a dj mix.

Chicago native Kate Simko lays down our next chapter. Kate’s unique path into music making has led to a distinctive and innovative sound that has carved her niche in dance music’s avante garde. With a background in classical music Simko has been releasing music since 2003, on labels such as Traum, Ghostly International and Spectral. Her latest release, the ten track album 'Lights Out' on Hello?Repeat literally dropped this week, so there could not have been a better time for her to record a Louche mix. The podcast is aimed at the dancefloor, grooving as smoothly as silk between house and techno with the occasional disco flourish. Ch ch check it out.

episode, spanning instramental, vocal and gritty cuts; Rau conveys his
hip-hop roots through some first-rate selections.
Residing in Hamburg, Rau has imprints on labels as Smallville, Pampa,
Ethereal Sound and his own Dérive. His productions embrace multiple
layers of slow moving melodys that build and build adding hints of
vocals and drums, the acclaimed Asper Clouds LP has been likened to the
work of Move-D which isn't suggested lightly... we reckon this lads got

Louche 045 - BNJMN

Next up is an insight into the sounds of up and comer BNJMN. His debut album on Amsterdam mega label 'Rush Hour' tests the confines of electronica, treading a hybrid ground between house, techno and dubstep. Deep,
intrinsically melodic and densely layered soundscapes sit against references from the
early 90’s, making for a very interesting and unique listen. This well put together podcast offers us glimpses into the vibe of his album, and shows why luminaries Steffi, Surgeon and Deetron hold him in such high regard. This young prodigy is destined for big things, and we're chuffed to put a mix out by him.

Louche 044 - Art Of Tones

When Art of Tones released a series of two EPs on 2020vision in 2005, people thought it was a well known producer using a secret alias. It was in fact Ludovic Llorca, a very well known producer, but in the jazz and downtempo scene. WHat started as a side project, nowadays Art of Tones is Llorca's main project, and he has really been perfecting his more straight up, dubby dance floor orientated house music since. Last years "The World As I Live It" EP on Room With a View in 2010 was a big success, both critically and commercially, and his remix work includes tracks for labels such as 2020vision, Freerange and Compost Black. The mix is a lovely summery blend, hinting at Ludovic's backgrond in jazz whilst maintaining Art of Tones' typical house groove.

East London DJ, promoter and music journalist Jane Fitz serves up this weeks mix. Djing since the nineties in London and her old home Hong Kong, Jane has always shown a natural aptitude to house music of all kinds. She's taken this passion for the music we all love around the globe, from Watergate to Free Rotation Festival to Secretsundaze, as well as at her own parties, PEG, which have come to be renound in and around London. Her long running weekly radio show on myhouseyourhouse.net is very well respected, and it was perhaps her early work on pirate London radio stations that makes her such a good broadcaster. We can't stop listening to this one, respect!

Louche 042 - Tanner Ross

Next up we have Tanner Ross on number 42! New Jersey born, this guy has been making waves on labels such as Dirty Bird, Freerange, Airdrop and Culprit the past couple of years, and it seems to be paying off now. His career is starting to gain some serious momentum with wax on Double Standard, No.19 and !K7 all set to drop very soon. This mix starts off with a classic joint from the late, great Nate Dogg, and slowly but surely unwinds into an extremely classy, funkified 64 minutes. Plenty of nice, sleazy unreleased material of Tanner's own, thrown in for good measure. Tried and tested - perfect for barefooted, sunkissed afternoon raving!

With a killer album set to drop imminently on Uzuri, Leo has been setting our subs alight with this mix the past week. The mix, while taking tracks from varied walks and styles of electronic music, keeps a distinctively raw flavour throughout and proves Lerosa to be a proper badman, definitely a name to be run through the lips and ears of many for time to come. Starting his career in '96 in Dusseldorf, warming up for some of his heroes in an abandoned wine cellar, Jan now finds himself at the very top of his game. With a residency at Watergate, and releases on Hello?Repeat and Moon Harbour, Jan's lovely, rough edged deep house and techno is finding its way into all the right boxes, and this mix demonstrates exactly why he is regarded as such a top drawer DJ and electronic music writer.

Good friend of Louche Jef K mixes this weeks instalment, and we’re thrilled with the results. The Parisian maestro- our headliner for last years New Years Eve Party in Leeds has put together a lovely mix, which ebbs and flows through different genres of house like a cool mountain stream. Jef’s releases on his own label Silver Network, including last years massive ‘In My System’ was received well on all corners of the globe, and on listening to this mix, the Frenchman’s natural flair for house music is very apparent. Cheers Jef, for an excellent addition to the series ; )

We mix things up this week, with a podcast that differs in style from
any that we have put out before. Michael J Collin’s recent Louche
interview got across his love-hate relationship with the music biz, and
sticking within this school of thought he has recorded an ‘Anti Mix’
for us. Not wanting to put out a normal 4/4 dancefloor orientated mix,
this podcast is an experimental, dubbed out, ambient blend of acoustic
elements, delays and guitars. Perfect for chilling too, and a very
welcome change of pace for our series.

Louche 034 - Patrice Scott

One of Detroit’s top deep house and techno producers Patrice Scott
delivers our next installment, and it’s a lovely little addition to the
series. Scott’s refreshing attitude to music, and his desire to be
anything but the norm has won him the praise of all his peers, with DJs
such as Levon Vincent, Fred P and Efdemin supporting his tunes from day
one. His label Sistrum, launched in 2006 provides him with an excellent
outlet to provide music for the masses, and receives rave reviews with
every release. Patrice’s raw and emotively charged sound is at the
forefront of the latest wave of electronic music to emerge from the
Motor City, and it’s a pleasure to have him record a mix for us.

This week our upcoming guest Matthew Styles delivers a worthy podcast
to open up 2011 for us. If you asked us what DJ’s mixes did we most
enjoy from 2010, Matthew would have been at the top of our list. One of
the most underrated DJ’s around Styles has graced the floors of Fabric,
Panorama Bar & Watergate whilst releasing on labels such as
Horizontal and Crosstown Rebels. He continues to straddle the last two
decades of house music in some of the planet’s foremost nightspots.
This week we get to hear him in the mix with tracks from the likes of
Shonky, Soundstream, Nebraska and more in this impressive podcast that
has us nodding from start to finish.

A festive curve ball for our next installment, courtesy of Londoner
Nebraska. If you’ve heard his releases on Rush Hour and Down Low Music
over the years you’ll doubtlessly know of his ability to produce
sumptuous deep house and disco. This lovely mix however encompasses so
much more. Jazz sounds with flutes that would make Ron Burgundy blush
combined with elements of Folk, Motown, Soul and House, breathtakingly
arranged, perfect listening for the festive season.

A DJ set this week, courtesy of Detroit native, and poster child of
sound couture, Jimmy Edgar. The producer, designer and fashion
photographer has seriously been blowing up of late; his unique and
provocative ultra modern sound environments turning heads the world
over. His most recent album XXX on K7 records is a unique electronic
masterpiece; Prince fused with Magda, oozing with sexual energy and
analogue warmth; it gets our vote for album of the year without
question. Releasing since 2002 on labels such as Warp, Pokerflat,
Playhouse and even Minus, this guy is seriously hot, and its a pleasure
to release this high energy, funk fuelled mix. ‘Hot Raw Sex’ translated
into electronic music at its very very best.

A pumping house mix for your ears this week, mixed by Freak n Chic’s
Chris Carrier. The Parisian has been working the underground scene for
over a dozen years now, but 2003 was when things started to take off
for the Frenchman; founding labels Adult Only and Catwash, as well as
bringing his sound to Get Physical, Robsoul and most recently Freak n’
Chic. His mix is an hour of excellently constructed house, aimed
straight at the dancefloor. A great demonstration of how he has got
himself to the forefront of the new French electronic scene, and
another great addition to the series.

constructed mix, organically flowing though ambient electronica to
groovy minimal house, washed with eerie vocals and soundscapes. It

New Yorker Ryan Cavanagh AKA Slow Hands lays down some serious funk for
this weeks episode, and what a podcast it is. Ryan first started making
waves after joining the Wolf+Lamb family in 2009 and has quickly risen
to the forefront of the US slo-mo disco scene with ear perking
productions of space disco and low-slung disco-filtered house. A
regular on the NYC scene for many years, playing from penthouse parties
to warehouse afters, this talented DJ and producer now gigs the world
over, and has recently been signed to the prestigious Geist Agency.
This groove bomb of a mix demonstrates his originality and excellent
taste in music, undoubtedly an excellent addition to the series we’re

Space Ranger are a three-piece German trio, who share a wide and
unlimited love for music. Individually they have been producing and
spinning records since the late eighties, working with artists as
varied as Kool and the Gang and Kurtis Blow along the way. Making use
of their sophisticated production skills, an array of analogue gear, as
well as samples from funk and soul, Space Ranger fit perfectly into
contemporary house music, and stellar releases on Rebirth and the
Spanish label Lovemonk lay testament to this claim. The mix, compiled
by member DJ Rino is a slow building voyage through house, disco and
space; a refreshing and unique podcast that you quite simply have to

structures. Now living in Lisbon he performs under two different
monikers; ‘Portable’ and ‘Bodycode’, which can be heard on big hitting
labels such as Perlon and Spectral, as well as his own label Süd

Louche 016 - Drop Out Orchestra

And now for something completely different. For this installment we
have called upon the little heard of Drop Out Orchestra to record a
mix, and they have delivered a set which is little like anything you
have heard from our podcasts before. The mix is an eclectic journey
through funk, soul, disco, motown and house, comprised mostly of old
forgotten tracks and edits from the guys themselves. Their identities
remain a secret, and all we can really tell you is that they are a
Swedish family of musicians who are old enough to have heard such music
the first time around! It’s an honor to put out such a rare podcast, we
hope you enjoy it as much as us.

Louche 015 - Tom Demac

April’s installment welcomes the kinked grooves of Tom Demac. 2010 is
shaping up to be a good year for Tom, with releases lined up on
Hypercolour, Liebe Detail and Murmur. We can also look forward thi
syear to the launch of his new techno project – ‘Dense’ with good
friend Glimpse. The mix, which is packed full of exclusive fresh edits
and tracks perfectly represents Tom’s unique sound; a philosophy of
creating music aimed at the dance-floor but carrying enough ‘essence’
to be enjoyed in the home. I’m sure you’ll agree, a perfect choice for
a podcast.

Louche 013 - Le Loup

Louche 013 sees Parisian Léonard Perret AKA Le Loup take control. The
21 year old wonderkid is a sound engineering student at the Institut
Supérieur des Techniciens du Son in Paris, and certainly shows a
sophisticated musical palette with this podcast. After developing an
early interest in music at the age of 16, he is now releasing on Wolf +
Lamb and playing parties all over the world. Influenced by artists such
as Sun Ra, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone but also Moodyman and Daniel Bell,
Le Loup’s productions sound similar to his DJ mixes; a true melting pot
of jazz and house classics, and a pronounced inclination for Detroit
and NYC vibes.
